Time for a Change
hi there
WEll its been a while since i have been on here but now that i am back i got some questions. I have a 04 Ranger right now and i am looking to upgrade and get a 07-08 F-150 FX4 (hopefully) Prolly crew if not extend cab but now i am wondering how good of Gas Mileage are you guys getting?? I am looking to get into the landscaping busy and i would have to tow a skid steer every once in a while but mostly a couple mowers....or a 20-24' enclosed trailer. how does it tow? Are there any Chips or programmers you guys use for better perforance or Exhaust?
thanks alot guys!

Hi D-mon,
I am in landscaping business & from my personal experience 5.4L, 3.73 LS, tow package and 4X4 are the most important features for the truck. It will tow a small skid steer loader (e.g. Bobcat S70 or S100) with no problems. My 07 XLT is getting 13 - 14 mpg for mixed driving. So far I am happy with the truck.

Hey D-mon, I have an '05 F150 scab 8' bed w/ heavy payload package 4x4. It's a bigger 150 and can handle everything you mentioned and I'm getting 13.5 city 15 highway though I had to do a few mods to get that kind of mileage. Some people are getting (from what I've read) 17 to 21 highway with smaller/shorter trucks

I get around 15-16 around town and 18-19 on the highway. Like said above The F150 would do everything you listed. There are quite a bit of landscapers that use F150's around here. I have an edge programmer that I really like. There is a good amount of people on here also that use the Edge.

That's pretty funny how that works out. The only ranger that will save on gas now is the 2.3, but it doesn't have a whole lot of gusto.
