My truck has had a fuel leak for a few months and today it just got to me. I decided to check it out and turns out to be the pump under the turbo. Now I'm wondering how difficult it is to change. So any one who has gone through this your help would be greatly appreciated.
If not ,,remove the filter housing ,,, cut the rubber fuel lines ,, (replace with new) ..New banjo bolt washers ,,,carefull not to drop the tappet in the motor ...Not a big deal...
I did mine and like everything new, first time is a bit scary. Once you do it you will probably look back an laugh as it is really pretty easy. You will probably come out of it with a couple scraped knuckles and some sore ribs laying up on the top of the engine.
are ya semi-handy with some tools?
Can replace it yourself and save some $$$
Pump is about 100 at parts store.
I'm sure i'd be about 300-400 for dealer to do it, at least
We can help you through it if you choose to do it yourself

Just did my first one a couple of weeks ago. Using the article Robbgt mentioned above and searching this forum under "fuel pump" I found all the info I needed. Wasn't bad at all just took awhile because it was also my first time removing some of the other stuff that is in the way. By the way, I didn't need to bend a 1 1/4" wrench as suggested to get the banjo bolt out. I could see where that would have made it easier but it still worked without bending.
Yeah I'm considering doing it myself. I've always done the work on my trucks, its just that this is my first diesel and I've never worked on them. I got time so I'm picking up the pump tomorrow and se what I can do. I found one at Autozone for $82.00, will that do? I'll keep ya'll posted.
