98 explorer starting issues
I have a 98 explorer that has starting issues , it will crank and sometimes start and most times not( once running it runs normally)Eventhough new battery cranks fine if it wont start if it is boosted it always starts immediately. I have replaced the coil pak,battery,ground strap,starter,ignition switch, with no change. Could this be a PCM issue or possibly a fuel side relay problem, help!!

When you turn the key to the ON positon, you should hear the fuel pump prime for a second or 2. If you don't hear it, then you have a fuel delivery problem. This could be the fuel pump relay, the pump, or inertia switch. But none of these should be dependent on hot shoting the car. Do you hear the FP prime?

With my hearing ,NO -- but when you hot shot the unit it starts instantly and runs normally, are the injectors powered through thePCM? Is there a relay for the injectors ? On the Chilton wiring diagram I can't find one.
