I have a spare 351 block from a 90 Bronco laying around and I've decided I want to make it into a 400HP motor.
I really don't know what manufactuares and parts I need. I understand that compression, pistons, rings, cam and intake all need to be changed. If anyone has any input or has done this in the past I would really appreciate the help...
Thanks
That kind of power isn't too hard to make with the parts today. I've built one windsor and am getting ready to build another, I've read tons of articles to come up with the perfect combo. so here goes. You'll need a 650 Holley vacuum secondaries, Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, TFS Twisted Wedge aluminum heads, Comp Cams Extreme Energy cam with something around .520 lift and 275-280 duration, and around 9.5 compression. This is pretty streetable, but remember that you're building more than 1hp/cubic inch so it's not going to be a tow motor. If you have to redo the bottom end, and want more grunt there are many stroker kits out there.
Shade Tree Mechanic just did a show last Sunday on a 351W compared to a Chevy 350. The built the 351W with aluminum GT40 heads. I can't remember the other specs but they put in a cam, lifters, roller rockers, etc. and put it on the Dyno. Turned 412 HP. You should be able to find their internet site and get some info.
