Deciphering axle codes

Well, I wanted to figure out what gear ratio I have. I looked at the code on the door, and under axle it is blank. their are no tags on the axles either, I have looked. How else do i figure out the gear ratio?

Put the rear end up on jack stands safely.

Put transmission in Neutral.

Place a mark on the drive shaft and on a rear wheel where you can easily see them.

Rotate the wheel one complete revolution and count the number of rotations of the driveshaft.

Axle ratio = # of rotations of the drive shaft for one complete rotation of the wheel.

Make certain both wheels turn. If they turn in the same direction, you have a limited slip axle. If they turn in opposite directions, you have an open differential.

If you do this with only one wheel off the ground, rotate the tire two revolutions instead of once.
