Ok, I tried running bio-fuel in my 86 F-250. I have a 6.9 and it ran great for two full tanks, but it started running shady, so i changed my fuel filter and it ran great again, but yesterday it ran like hell all day, which i thought it was just the cold weather (it was only like 40 out, but i guess i am not supposed to run the fuel under 50) so I parked it for the night and went to start it up today (much warmer today) and i got nothing at all. I keep regular diesel in my front tank, so i switched tanks and tried turning it over for a while, but that didnt work, so i checked where i wasnt getting fuel. I was getting fuel after the fuel filter, but nothing at the injectors when i cranked it over. Just to see I made a fitting to bypass the fuel filter and I tried that but that didnt work either...The mechanical fuel pump was working fine, but the injection pump was not pumping any fuel. I am hoping I dont need a new injection pump.
I want to see if there is any way to check my fuel cut-off switch, anyone know how? Any help appriciated.
I took the top off the injection pump and tested the switch and it works fine. so my only other guess is that the first filter screen on the IP is blocked up from running the bio-fuel. I dont know i am gonna rip my IP off and clean it up i guess.
From what I have read,
1. Biodiesel will remove all deposits from the fuel system.
So expect several filter changes when you start running it.
2. Biodiesel gells at a much higher temp, like 40 degrees.
So you may just be gelled up.
Yes it was warm today, but that is a big hunk of cold steel.
The inside of the IP may still be gelled.
Not sure if standard anti gell stuff works on biodiesel, see no reason it wouldn't though.
A good dose of anti gell and plug in the block heater, it may start after the IP warms up.
