I know guys who soak their AFE Oiled filters in a bucket with some simple green and water to clean it. Still have to buy the oil to re-oil it though.

I just cleaned mine last night with the kit. It came with the filter when I purchased it. There is enough in the kit to clean probably 10 times or more. I think you can pick them up for around 20 bucks or so. The K&N cleaning solution kicks ***. My filter was caked with all kinds of crap. I sprayed it on and 10 minutes later rinsed with the garden hose. Clean as new. I let it dry over night and will probably oil it later this afternoon. I would have purchased the kit before and now after the cleaning I deffinatley would.

I clean mine in my vehicles like my motorcycle filters,I wash them in solvent, let them dry then soap and hot water, then let it dry before re-oiling,it takes about 24 hours to air dry each time but it is clean.

a 32oz bottle of cleaner is $9 and a can of oil is $5 to me that is very inexpensive i have K&N in all me vehicles and clean them once a year still on the original bottle of cleaner and just bought my second can of oil (havent used it yet). that comes out to be 10 cleanings. that is like $.50 a cleaning or less.
