I want to install a GPS in my '98 Expedition. The guy I'm dealing with wants to install it somewhere in the dash. I'm reluctant to let someone pull my dash apart and would prefer another location but he insists that's the best place.
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone that's installed a GPS in another location and got satisfactory results.

Pioneers coming out with the new F series also the 20th of this month that'll have indash and on dash models, so you may wish to wait for those. However there's been some very good deal's on the D3's lately, with the factory rebate you can get them now at half the price I paid for mine. Pioneer USA - Navigation
After the clarification, methinks the installer has the right idea. You do not want it where it could be pooped out with a screw driver. Same with the TomToms and stuff that folks have now. Crooks are breaking into them when they see the bracket suction cupped to the window. They know the GPS is in there....
