What do you think?
I have a'69 2wd with a 240 I6 and a 3 on the tree. I can get a 289 with an auto out of '66 Galaxie. Do you think my mpg will lower because a 289 is two small? Should I look for a 351?
Any advise would be appreciated.

I would think the 351 would have lower mpg than the 289. I had one in a 66 mustang and got over 14-16 with it, and that beast weighed in at 2000 unloaded I think.

I had a worn out 302 in my '64 and got 11-12 mpg (C4 auto with 3.25 rear gears) and now have a newly built (as in for performance) 351W that gets 11-12 mpg with the same gear setup... will the 289 get better or worse than the 351W... really depends on how you drive it, tune it and use it... the 351W has more available torque than the 289, so it shouldn't have to work as hard as the 289 to do the same job...
so it kinda comes down to what you want and can get... good luck..
