Strange Problem?
I have a 92 F150 extra cab 4x4 5.8L E4OD with approx 18k miles on reman engine and rebuilt tranny. I recently fought a vacume leak for a while. I replaced the intake manifold gasket, all vacume hoses, and TPS. I also blocked off the EGR and bought the EGR eliminator. Everything was fine for a few months. Now sometimes the truck will idle up (just to about 1000) and shift very hard. I mean there is no slipping when changing gears, it will actually clunk and shake the whole truck when shifting. Sometimes I can go WOT and it will bring the idle back down and shift normally for a while, sometimes it does not help. It does seem like when it has been drove for a while it does not do it as easily or often. I don't drive it often because of mpg but I don't need it giving me whiplash when I do need to drive it. I have not pulled any codes yet.
