Hi folks,
I'm new at this and really need your help. Never owned a diesel before. Need it for work - heavy hauling. Located in Western Canada - so this is a Canadian F350 assembelled in Kentucky - go figure.
Going to look at one tomorrow an 2005 F350 SD 4x4 Lariat 6.0L engine. I have been told not to touch any of the 6.0L engines - as they are nothing but trouble. Please advise.
I have afriend that owns a 2006 and has put 60000mils on his and has had no problems. Were they fixed for 2005 or 2006 ?
Thanks for your help...

All Super Duty's are built in Kentucky. Post the VIN in the OASIS Request thread at the top of this forum and you'll know what Ford Service has done to the truck.
I have an '06 F350 that has had two turbos replaced and a head replaced as well, all in less than 10,000 miles. I still think the rear main is leaking but the dealer says it is residual oil from replacing the head. I tow a 5k pound trailer. about 50 percent of the miles on the truck. Good luck.
That's very low miles for an '06. The unison ring and turbo vanes can get rusty in the VGT when a 6.0 is not driven too often and that will definitely cause problems.
Get it out on the road and really work it more often and you should have less problems. The 6.0 Owner mantra is, "Drive it like you stole it once in a while!". Also, using Diesel fuel treatment like Stanadyne or Diesel Kleen is helpful.
