Alternator overcharging!!!

Well, got my parts guy to warranty out another new regulator, and still the same problem. Just didn't have time to get into the wiring last night again. Hopefully tonight though. Maybe I'll find something in that harness shorted together and fix this thing. I'll post what I find once again. Thanks, Brian

HEY.... fordtrck1955, if you find out the problem could you let me know? I am having the exact same problem, all I did was install a voltage gauge and all of a sudden I am running 14.5 at idle and as soon as you give it gas it jumps up to a solid 17.5 volts and stays there, thought I screwed something up and burned up the voltage regulator so I installed a new one and it does the same thing, it was a 35 mile trip home from work and I was sweating it all the way home! I do feel it has something to do with not having a good ground and bought a new engine block to fire wall ground strap, if i figure it out before you I will let you know the problem!
if anyone has a clue though let me know!
