The cabs are different, and the dash is not compatable. Ford run a same frame from 80-96. (exept for differnce in lenght of super cabs). So if both trucks are the same single cab versions the newer cab should mount to the older frame. But you will have to compleatly re-connect and modify the electical and there also may be a problem between the old and net columns shift stroke to the transmission.
I once cut the riveted brackets off an 81 F350 and bolted them on to a 91 F150. Both frames had the exact holes punched for the bracket swap. The only difference was the f350's front leaf spring brackets has 3 holes and the f150 had 2. I drilled the frame holes out and re-bolted the brackets with 1/2" bolts.
It's quite a chore...But going from an 8.8 5 lug to a Dana 70 Hd 8 Lug was well worth it.
Well im going to put the f150 cab on a f450 diesel. I plan to put the older steering column and dash in the newer cab i don't have time to play with wires and what not. I just hope the older dash and column will fit.
