To get the upper shroud off peel back the rubber gasket, you will see several clips so to speak, with a pick or small screwdriver work the half moon schrowd off. then grab the belt on the passenger side of the alternator and pull it up and off the alt. pulley. reinstall the same way and snap the halfmoon shrowd back in place. good luck. hope this helps.

I just replaced my OEM 110 AMP alternator with an upgraded 160 AMP alternator. I just pulled on the belt between the alternator pulley and the lower idler pulley. There was enough slack to get it over the alternator pulley. I gingerly layed it aside so it did not come off other pulleys and changed the alternator. When I re-installed the belt I found it easier to remove the passenger side battery and stand on the tray with one foot with the other foot on my bumper guard and pull staright up to get the belt back on.

Bottom line: I did not have to remove the shroud.

the main reason to remove the halfmoon is that it gives you better access to the belt and if you don't remove it ( it takes less than a minuite to do ) and you slip while lifting the belt , you could slice youre arm up real good.
