Does anyone know...

What the specs of the factory audiophile subwoofer amp are? I took out the 8" sub from the factory box and it looks to be a dual voice coil. The small amp that is mounted to the box is a 2 channel and I am wondering what the power specs are and how many ohms the amp can handle if I replace the sub with a better aftermarket dual voice coil unit.

I have searched and cant find the specifics.

You should be able to put a DMM on the coil leads and that will tell you the ohms. Then measure the box it came in and find a sub with that ohm load and one that will fit that box size.

Sorry, Im a finance guy, not up on electrical terms. What is a DMM?

Digital Multi Meter or volt/ohm meter .. an inexpensive one can be found at Radio Shack

Sorry, My bad.

You can find them cheap everywhere. Even one from a harbor freight tools or a discount bin at a auto parts house will do.
