F250 4.6L

Hi guys, new here and first post.

I am looking to buy a truck, and have been looking for a 2WD F150 LB with the 4.6L, mainly for fuel economy, since it will take me between 40-70 miles a day to work, and sometimes tow my race car trailer.

I haven't found that particular truck, but found something kind of interesting and wanted to get some opinions. The trucks are 2WD LB F250 XL's with the 4.6L, one 97 and the other 98. They are not the HD, so they have the look of the 97 F150. They have about 100k miles each, and asking price is about 9000 for the 97 and they didn't have a price on the 98 yet.

The trucks are used company fleet trucks, and imagine that with that many miles, they would be mostly highway being so new.

What do you guys think? Will they have similar fuel economy to the equivilant F150? Is there something I should know about these trucks? Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

Jim

Those trucks are also referred to as a 5/8's instead of a 3/4 ton. They are very close to the 150's but have a 250 chassis in them. They will get mpg very similiar to the 150's depending on how low the gears are in them. My neighbor has the 4X4 with the 4.6 in it. He uses it for towing a trailer quite a bit and really should've gotton the 5.4. The light duty 3/4 ton's are nearly identical to the 1/2 tons in many ways. The main thing you will notice is the F250 badge and the 7 bolt wheels.

Ford now makes those trucks as heavy 150's
