Hello everyone, as you can see im a newbie here and of course ive got Questions. Im looking at purchasing a 02 Navi. Now some would question my sanity being that gas prices are the what they are. I have a wife and four kids that are getting bigger by the Hour. My other cars are a 99ponti grand prix, 98mustang gt & 89mustang gt. when we all have to go out together as you can see we have got serious problems. we either pile up in the grand prix or take two cars. With the 02 navi, are there any issues to be concerned with for that year model? Gas prices, is it making you rethink your navi? are you looking to sell it?
I just don't think gas is that much of an issue. If you maintain your vehicle and drive with a soft foot, you'll get 16-22 mpg. You can get 28-32 with some newer rice grinders (if you're lucky) but you'll not be near as safe or comfortable. The cost of the smaller vehicles has become nuts and you can use the higher gas prices to negotiate a better price for you. If you use these numbers and figure 15000 miles per year and gas at $3.60 the Navi will cost you $817.00 more per year or $.05448 per mile. I think the comfort and security of a dependable car is well worth the 6 extra cents.
Thanks for the advice guys. When i tell friends im looking to get a Navigator, they look at me like im crazy . Ive been searching the net pretty good, there not too big of a Gator following is there? Where can i look to find more info & stuff?
Of course you are getting a good deal cause they are having trouble GIVING them away with the gas prices the way they are but good luck trading one in. Dealers will not touch them with a 10 foot pole and if they do they way low ball you. Why i said try to get a newer one with more ammenities and try to bend the dealership over for a change instead of the opposite since its getting really hard for them to sell a full size SUV with this gas crunch. basically bro make it worth your while and go for gusto if you are taking the plunge into a Full size SUV.
Well the Navigator Dreams are a Bust! I went for a test drive today. I must say all the Bells $ whistles are cool but, this Navi has seen better days.
On another note, I saw this 03 4.6L Expy that looks & rides good. I may go in for the kill next week. Im doing my homework on EXPYS now!
The more i think about it, the more i want it. It has an Audiovox dvd player & screen with wireless headset...is this a factory unit? I didnt see many dents and dings on it, she just needs a good clean up. I did notice the lower body cladding looked a little faded. I also noticed this clicking noise when i turned the rear A/C to max. what could that be?
Im a guy that just cant leave a car alone. Ive already cooked up a Modification plan....Lets see, wheels, she needs to be lowered, a new head unit with navigation, HID headlights, a grill....and the list goes on.....
AWWWW....It has a 4.6L in it. Does anyone have anything good to say about the 4.6L? Well, i live in a suburb of Atlanta and i only have a Motorcycle that i see no need to tow.....I guess it wont be too bad.
Same situation here. Although, as someone else pointed out, I'm not going to post that my wife is getting bigger. I have a 15 year old who is just about to 6' and 210lbs and an 8 year old. We just bought a 2005 Expy King Ranch with every option available, 28k miles, and in excellent condition for $22,500. I have a friend who can buy vehicles at auctions and we had been researching vehicles for a while. The only thing comparable that we had found was '05 to '06 Yukon Denalis that were selling between 17 and 20k with fewer options and more miles. We did not buy this from the auction though. I found it on the internet and flew down to Chicago to pick it up. Probably could have saved a thousand if I could have found one like it here at an auction.
I literally had no major issues with my 4.6L. I'm right around 148K and not far from A town. We pull a boat and a utility trailer without any problems.
Essentially the Exp is just a F150 with a different body (so I'm told) and the F150 is one of the best trucks ever produced. I probably sound like a salesman but I'm really happy with my 2000.
I'd buy my 5.4L if i had to do it over again. I've been able to tow alot (military move with loaded 6x12' uhaul trailer going from new mexico-northern california and all the mountain ranges inbetween) the few years I've had her and haul alot of people (every seat occupied a few times) and not have the truck strain or feel like theres not enough power. Hills are nothing, towing/hauling is nothing for this engine. You also have to think of your power-weight ratio when you look at this choice. Like i have said before my wifes mazda B2500 P/u is a 4cyl but because of the weight of the truck gets just as good MPG as my expy was stock because the engine has to work that much harder to move all of the total weight. Don't shortchange yourself in power if you can help it cause it pays off dividens down the road when you least will expect it because if i didnt have the expy that I do with the engine I have I wouldn't have been able to accomplish half the things I have with anything less. More or less you have to weigh the type of driving and terrain (hilly/flat/mountains/etc.) if you are considering going down in engine.
