Trailer Brakes
Beerstalker...you are a genius. Just got a call from the stealership, they informed my I will need a new master cylinder. They are going to install it on Monday. When I picked the truck up I told him I was posting on this forum as the job was progressing and at this point is where the story goes... they looked right after me or stuck it to me good regarding the electric brakes.
As far as the installation of the aux switches and the back up lights under the rear bumper... excellent job couldn't be happier... will pay dividends on the nights we launch in nasty dark weather.
I will post again after the new master cylinder is installed and post the numbers after I have the invoice. I will break it down good so if anyone else has to do this at least they will have some numbers to assist in making there decesion.
When I have the truck just the way I want it I will post some pics.. however I'll have to learn how to first
You guys have helped me tremendously.. thanks for everything so far

Labour 2.5 hrs. $197.50
Shop supplies $7.95
Total before taxes is $1062.35
What I have now is Trailer controller and 4 aulilary switches in dash. Ford products
Dealership lowered cost of parts and only charged me 2.5hrs for all the work. Dealership did this because they were not aware I was going to have to buy new Master Cylinder.
The truck is still all Ford and that makes me happy... I'll let you decide if I got a fair deal or not
One problem I am having however is the trailer brakes work but I get no signal (green truck) on my switch saying its all powered correctly. I took plug apart that goes from trailer into truck and am going to change it tomorrow... looked kind of rusty and stuff. I think I have a bad ground from my trailer plug.. if thats the case all will be well. If not I am going to take it back to dealer with trailer hooked up and let them have a look at it.
Sorry for the long post.. but it may help some people decide if they want to go this route or after market
I would get someone in charge to make it right; however you cannot blame the dealer on a poor connection at your trailer. I hope you got the 7 way hook up.
wow, that is a lot of money to retrofit. But, much like customizing, you pay the piper.
Right now we have 6 hooked up and nothing on the center pin. The truck says the center pin is for backup lights. Is this considered the 7th pin.
We think that we are not getting the green light because there is nothing connected to the center pin? could this be right?
If so back to the store for trailer lights with backup lights included
The 1000 bucks was hard but now its just plain frustrating.. back and forth we go
all this help is much appreciated... thanks
