whats the max lift u can run with stock d3 heads without going adjustable?
i found a couple of mild cams but didnt know if the lift was to much lunati has a bracket II cam with 280-290 dur and 516 intake lift and 543 exhaust power band is 1500-5500
summit has thier own brand cam that has like 286-296 dur with 501 lift on both sides powerband is 2000-4500
any suggestions welcome
I am going to run .542/.552 lifts with my D3s and if I remember right someone said dont go over .600 though. The cam I am using will be a Voodoo from Lunati.
i wasnt gonna use stock springs i would buy matching springs for the cam.the voodoo cam seems like alot of lift for non-adjustable heads are u changing valvetrain to adjustable
i think with the cams you have mentioned with proper valve springs, retainers, lifters etc.
you should not have any problems with non adjustable valve train, as long as basic clearances are within specs. eg. valve height, pushrod length, rocker arm ratio etc.
always check piston/valve clearance
I built a motor for a friend over two years ago using the VooDoo cam that 385Hemi mentioned with non adjustable D3 heads. It has had the guts ran out of it, wide open ALL the time and never had one problem. I did take my time and found the correct pushrod length and used the correct springs.
hey guys, sorry to kinda hijack, but a freind is offering me a comp cam for $50
i have a stock 460. except a edelbrock intake manifold and a holley 750 dp. the 750 is actaully doing pretty good. doesnt seem too big
but anyway, this cam is for a boat engine..does it matter? COMP Cams® - Cam Details
thats the link for the cam. do you think it will work ok? it says i need other springs...i can get those if you guys think it will be good. later planes are l&l fenderwell headers.
the 460 is swapped into a '79 f150 custom 4x4. i use it mainly for 4x4ing and some towing. thanks guys
