8RT verse 8BA

I was wanting to know what the difference is between the 8RT and 9BA engines are. I have an 8RT out of a F-6 that blew a few days ago. I have located 2 engines that have the 8BA heads on them. Will the blocks interchange and if so, are there any differences. Thank you. I'm a newbie so be easy on me.

I believe they are the same basic engine.
The engine put in trucks had 8RT heads and different waterpumps.

Lots of debate, like maybe the RT's had a milder cam, lower compression heads, etc., but no difference I have seen proven.

They both have the water outlets near the front of the heads and have the dist at the front of the right head where it is easily worked on.

Heads, carb ( different model number), water pumps, oil pan, starter plate, and bell-housing ( cast half-bell vs. full stamped steel or full cast in 52-53).

Take all the necessary parts off your 8RT Engine and put them on the 8BA Block.
The 8rt, & 8BA will interchange with one another, the jetting in the carb may be different and a few other minor items, nothing worth worrying about, your Water-Pumps will bolt right up, and you Top Rad hoses in the same location.
There could be one difference that is the Rad Hoses, your Truck may or may not have the larger necks at top.
Not to worry though if your useing the same heads.
