I plan on detailing her up real good this weekend and was wondering what you guys recomend for wax and aluminum polish. Ive been using Turtle Wax for wax but want to try something different and all the aluminum polishes ive used havent worked that great.
Thanks

If you're looking for aluminum polish, than naxon 7 seems to work really well.

If you're talking paint wax, then I'd say a 2 step process. A cleaner wax then a good polish/sealer. It used to be a 3 step process, but now meguiars has the polish/sealer in 1 step. This is what I'd recommend...

That help?

Thanks Robb. Ive been eyeing the Meguiars stuff everytime I walk in the parts store but was wondering what everyone else has been using. Have you used it?

Never seen that alum. polish but will look for it. Ive been using this blue stuff that works ok but could be better.

Yup, stuff works great! BUT! takes some time to do, as you have to wax once with the cleaner then once with the polisher/sealer. I have a random orbital buffer also which makes the whole ordeal alot easier. I can't imagine doing one of these truck entirely by hand. Just make sure if you are going to use something that's powered, don't use one of those 19.99 polishers at wally world. I'd recommend paying a bit extra to get the random orbital one and save the paint (the other ones will burn it)... The one I have is this one, about $100 Amazon.com: Porter-Cable 7424 3.7 Amp 6-Inch Variable-Speed Random-Orbit Polisher: Home Improvement

Of course that's if you want to go nuts... and give the truck a darn nice shine! There are 1 step processes that get it looking darn good too

I have been using colored Turtle Wax and it comes with a lipstick type of tube of colored wax to fill in dings and light scratches. Have used it on my Harley for years as well as my truck. It works well and leaves a nice finish.

I used to do the 2 step deal and you never have time to do it. I trade with the folks a Griot's Garage. You can do a search. I started using them when I was building street trucks.

They have a polish/sealantproduct they sell that has just been great so far. It is made for daily drivers and not show queens. It is holding up very weel in the Texas sun. I ever have it on one of my tractors.

They also sell the buffer mentioned above. That buffer will take at least have the time off.

Have used the Meguair's and it's great stuff....for alumimium polish the best I have found for shining up stuff aluminium, SS, chrome is called Wicked Polish in a yellow bottle simple to use and very effective. Can get it at most major over the highway truck supply places...(least here in Canuck land)...

Thanks for the compliment! Right now she's a bit dirty and could use a good wash and wax for the summer. Usually I can get my old man to help me out, he runs the porter-cable buffer while i go over and take it off by hand. Makes the job go alot quicker with 2 people.
