compressor and ac not working
My question is, will the ac kick in if the temp. outside is cold or does the outside temp. have to be hot enough before the ac will start. The outside temp. here is only 35F
many thanks.

Anyway, the question is does the AC not come on when the outside temp. is cold. Not why do I want ac. If anyone knows about an outside temp sensor for the AC I would very much appreciate it.

When it's cool (below 50F or so), the refrigerant gas contracts and lowers the system static pressure below the cycling switch's trip point (around 45 psi).
When the ambient gets back above 50F (or so), the gas expands and the pressure increases to the point where the system can now cycle.
Under-hood temps can cause significant variation in the temperature where this change takes place, so keep in mind that a hot engine compartment may allow system operation at a lower atmospheric temperature than stated.
