Just got my truck back from the dealer today for my recall and for a vibration in the front end...well that vibration ended up being a cracked rim! How it cracked i have no idea. And fords telling me i have to pay for it because they said it was caused by impact?? how can they tell this when theres no vis. mark on the tire or the tire not even being messed up? So i called the 1800 customer service live and they said they couldnt over ride their decision or help me, i cant even try another dealer to try and warrenty it for me, they said the dealer would have to pay it outta pocket. Just thought this was some major BS! so right now im rollin around in a $43000 truck with a black spare on it cuz ford wont man up
Just ask to speak to the next manager and the next until you can get someone to pull their head out of their butt. Make sure you hang on to the tire with the bad rim for proof so you have something to threaten to sue about. I'm sure the manager at your local dealer will see things your way when you bring up the possibility of a law suit. Just be sure there's no impact marking on the wheel. If all else fails try some of the more popular tire shops, they might have a new set of take-offs you could buy one of to re-match your set.
Contact the dealer and insist that they put you in contact with a Factory Service Representative so that you can discuss the situation. Many dealers will do just about anything they can to avoid having to make a call to the local FSR based on a customers request. The dealer may even offer to buy you a new wheel as a "one time courtesy"...
so you guys think i can still get the rim piad for by the dealer, cuz tahts the only way that customer service said it could be done cuz i called them like i said and what Factory Service Representative you talk about PowerStrokeHD?
Assuming that the cracked wheel is on you '08... My opinion is that Ford should be covering it rather than your dealer, but you may get the dealer to cover it. It takes quite a bit to crack a SD wheel. My guess is it had a manufacturing defect to begin with and it was amplified just by being under the weight of your truck.
The "Ford Factory Service Representative" is the one who should be making the decision on who is going to cover the cost of the repair since there is a bit of a dispute on that between you and your dealer. If the dealer actually calls the FSR, he/she may actually come and look at the wheel.
