First off, I am going carbed on my truck, please don't say that I shouldn't or I should convert to EFI because I have made up my mind and that will not help my dilemma at all. Im not trying to be an a$$ I just need some answers. I called a tranny shop and they said that there are onl two sensors on the engine needed for the tranny to operate properly, the coolant temp sensor and the tps. I got the coolant temp sensor figured out already.
Are there any other sensors that have to do with the tranny from the engine? I know I will have to keep the computer hooked up as well.
Again the tranny is a E4OD, Thanks for the help guys I really appreciate it, Robert
Well, my advice would be to put a helmet on before you beat your head against the wall...
If you don't want to jury-rig a TPS onto a carb, then you could go to Baumann Engineering and pick up a tranny controller for several hundred dollars. Either way you end up with a cobbled-together system that may work, but probably won't ever work well.
I still don't get the carbed thing... ...it's really a step backwards on these trucks.
i know the e40d uses tps and speed sensor (on diff) to shift im not sire how your gonna get the tps to work with the carb, try adaptors and if theres none or no good options maybe a resistor to get the right amount of power to it then hook it to the throttle some how then link it to the trans but those should be only sensors you need
i can understand someone whos good at tuning carbs and doesnt want to work with gettin speed density tuned with major mods (ie rough cam) personally im a efi guy im ok with dealin with the carbs on outboards and dirtbikes just always done better with efi so best of luck with carb im assuming this is a 460, what year is it you might need to change the heads i know efi years got different heads
if this is a big project maybe consider goin to a stick...i am undecided on which i would go with if i had a choice my e40d was great until started upshiftin rough half or more of the time makes me wish i had nice stick r when i want real control over gear but then auto is easy and rebuild once in life vs replacin a clutch...basically if i were you i would figure if gettin a tps to work wont happen well then im gonna go to a stick
