Concerning Engine Label I.D. Sorry to all but Picture of Engine Code Information Label did not Upload for some reason. I'll do my best to describe: Lettering Above Bar Code appears to be 5K338AB. Written sideways on left edge appears to be 4/23/85. Once again this is a replacement engine although original Vin is engine type F. Firing order is configured as 5.8L though motor is obviously a 5.0L? as was original. Can anyone shed light on this and Win Contest and my Sincere Thanks.--Rod

Perhaps an aftermarket cam with the 351 firing order was installed.

Sounds to me like it is an engine from a 1985 Mustang GT with an automatic. The H.O. engine has the same firing order as the 351. It has a roller camshaft and should have factory tubular headers(very restrictive). All 5-speed cars got a 580 cfm version of the Holley 4 bbl and all automatic cars got the CFI injection.
You can see the performance disadvantage of CFI since it made about 180 hp to the 210 of the 4 bbl. In 1986 Ford went to speed density which has the intake for FI that we are used to seeing.
Is it not in a Mustang? If not what is it in?
Hope that answered your question.

Thanks for reply! I need to clarify something. I haven't verified personally the firing orderof the Engine only looked at dist. cap wiring placement. Will pull plugs and determine what's what! Found Block Casting #'s behind starter: E5AE C3B I know E=80's and 5 makes engine a 1985. Do you know what the AE means or theC3B? By the way car was a 84 Gran Marquis given to me in "P"poor running cond. --Rod p.s. Where are Head Castig # found?

Thank-You for your answer! Engines in a 1984 Gran Marquis that was given to me in Bad running cond. I will pull sparkplugs and verify firing order is wired correctly! The car runs about as bad either configuration @ dist. cap.Been digging around on the Net Rather than under the hood. Driver license currently Revoked; soreally not in big hurry just know that friend of person that gave to me thinks was a Mustang engine. Found the Block Casting # behind starter it is E5AE C3B. Heard E=80's 5 makes it a 1985 the rest of #'s I haven't deciphered. Any Help?
