Well I guess when the PO changed the GP's on my rig he didn't put or adjust the injector lines right. We noticed that the injector line hits up against the throttle pedel bracket, and therefore the PO bent the bracket, which apparently is what is causing my truck not to get full throttle(See Thread) We caught this when we was replacing my throttle cable thinking that was the problem but apparently not! So anyone have a diagram or a good picture to show how to route these properly? Also they appear to be original should I replace?
well ive never had this problem, everytime ive had my lines off my truck, theyve gone back one way and one way only and that is the way they came off. did you or the person who reinstalled them bend them to fit back? never ran into this problem but thats the only way i can see it happening, unless a couple lines were put on backwards but other than that if your lines are semi clean, and arent rotten nor leaking i would not worry about replacing them, i have over 178000 miles on my lines and they look and function just fine, check them over. These lines do put up with an extreme amount of pressure so it wont hurt to check them, for piece of mind, as for a routing diagram, ill take some pictures of mine and hopefully this will aid in correcting your problem, not getting full pedal does suck (not that these engines have 1000 horses anyway) but ill try to help in any way i can.
You might try loosinging some of the lines and move them a little. They wont move much, but You might just get it to move enough to get some clearence. Loosen the line on the pump and the injector and it will probably move.
Might be worth looking through the lines, slow and carefull. If the PO bent one to fit it's a good bet that there was at least one other. If the bend causes any restriction in flow it would probably be a good idea to correct it.
OH , That motor has a better paint job than both my trucks and sidekick. Forgot to paint the Alternator though, and the 3 intake bolts on the back...Looks great. I saved that picture on my computer for later referral if I need it.
I found that on the internet, ugly motor, but great for injection line questions.
I save pictures I find that save me typing very long descriptions that don't really get the answer across clearly.
And I have more pictures of my truck than I do of my son, my wife has all of those.
Nice looking motor.
Built it with my very own hands, my son helped so he could learn how to tear down and reassemble a motor.
That turned out to be a good deal for me, because he got to see and learn how to set and measure clearances, about torque patterns and steps, engine machining, balancing, tolerances and all those other mechanic tricks.
And he really got a kick out of learning some of my diesel hot rod tricks.
16 year old boy learning how to hot rod something, that was cool.
Nice father son experience, we had a lot of fun.
During the tear down however, mom was not so happy.
We all know how black diesel oil is.....LMAO thinking about it to this day.
And now at 18, he wants to build one for himself.
I can forsee another build in the near future.
