My 3cyl did just fine. I use to drive it up to the local ski hill, now I wouldn't win any speed races up the hill, but it was faster than walking.
Sorry...I was embellishing a bit...his 3 cylinder car DID climb the hill. At 35 or 40 miles per hour...which simply sucks on the Interstate. But the car didn't stall or refuse to go up the hill...it just did it slowly.
On a side note...has anyone seen the "smart" car yet? I happened to see one last night and got to take a look at it...it's a cute little half of a car, and I understand the logic, but the mileage posted in the windshield (which is rarely accurate...) just barely equaled my 4 cylinder Escort.
I've heard mention 300 straight sixes and 302's etc. I have a 300 staight six 4.9L. Does this mean that I made the right choice when I got this instead of a 302 to pull my two horse trailer? Will mine get better gas mileage than the 302?

Gottaford
Probably won't get that more mpg better then the 302, but the 4.9 has the advantage of having lots of low end torque, so it doesn't have to rev high to make that trailer move. Prolonging life of the engine, and slightly better economy
