I bought my wife a 2005 Eddie Bauer Expedition with Navigation a few months ago. Everything was fine (sort of) until a couple a weeks ago when she told me the radio didn't receive any stations. I took it to get dinner one night and hit a bump and the radio started working fine again. Does anyone else have this problem, or do you have any suggestions where to look first to fix it? Thanks...
Was there any sound coming from the speakers at all? How does a CD play? On my 98 a bad connection from the factory amp to the speakers would cause a loss of sound when I went over bumps. Snugged up the connection and all is fine.
I had a radio that behaved similarly in a jeep once. It would cut out and if you smacked it from underneath it might or might not come back on. Had it looked at and there was an internal short in the radio itself... replaced under warranty. I buddy of mine also had a similar issue in his GMC yukon. Turns out the speaker wires had worn through and would short together and this would overload the amp in the radio and shut it down.
