Crazy idea for a project?

George, they make kits for putting them in Suzuki Samarai's, never heard of the Tracker but I'm sure it would work. There's so few of the 1.6 TD engines left that it's getting tough to find one. The 1.6 NA D is pretty slow but it would work. I always thought that the 1.6 engine would be good in a small boat. My uncle has a inboard with twin Chevy 4 cylinders, the VW's would fit in there nicely and give more torque and better mpg (or waves per gallon).
