I've noticed a peculiar trend in recent weeks in this area at local gas stations. Last week I was approaching a gas pump and was cut off by 2 young girls who pulled up to the pump. I pulled in behind them as they exited the car, I presumed to prepay for their gas. I waited approx 5 minutes at which point they came out with a bag of items they purchased, got in the car and left, without pumping the first drop of gas, yet there were plenty of empty parking spaces around the perimiter of the building. Today, I noticed the same thing, different person, different gas station. Society is getting in sad shape.

Recent weeks... More like recent years...
Respect for others went bye bye a long time ago, not only at the gas station...

If this is the worst incident you've had lately, consider yourself lucky.....
stupidity at it's finest... i'd'a said something to them but then I'm a girl and if they'd'a really started something with me it wldn't have looked near so bad for me to ... uh ... defend myself.. yeah... that's it.
Common sense, Manners, Being friendly toward others just to name a few are long gone, It's just sad that society has been reduced to nothing more than what you see these days.
yeah we posted the obit for common sense down in the tx forum years ago. it was pretty funny and incredibly sad since it was so true.... have to see if i can find it.
It seems to go with the territory now that gas stations have become a one-stop-shop. You would think people had enough sense to know that they shouldn't park @ the pump if they aren't buying fuel.
Nowdays everyone is so wrapped up in whats going on in their life that they are pretty oblivious to good old fashioned values such as common courtesy and looking out for one another.
I learned a long time ago that courtesy and respect cost you nothing and earn you much.
Sad to realize that current generations haven't learned this lesson....
We, as the American society, are in sad shape! We have too many people who only care about themselves, are so wrapped up in their lives that they are blind to others. Common courtesy is gone! When was the last time someone thanked you for shopping in their store, or for letting them in line in front of you, or for holding the door for someone? I stopped for gas the other night and had to endure a 5 minute cell phone conversation at the next pump; the phone was on speakerphone so we all heard it. If we don't recognize what's happening, we're really going down the tube...........
A lot of this disrespect starts at home. This is something parents should be trying to teach their kids. My kids are learning what it means to have respect for others, and what manners are. I just think that has gotten lost, too many parents are too busy to teach their children these basic things.

That pretty well says it all. Society didn't do it. We parents just quit doing our jobs. Sad but true
I was a Lowe's a few weeks ago...watched a woman come out of the store with a cart, take things from the cart and put them in her trunk, push the cart into the open parking spot next to her, get in her car and drive away. There was a cart corral 3 spaces up her row. People are lazy AND disrespectful.
