This may be obvious to others but I have to ask. I installed MBRP 4" with tip and after you install the tip are you supposed to cut back the exhaust to where the tip clamps on do you just leave the excess pipe remaining inside the tip?
i have the 5" with a 6" tip..at first i didnt cut it..after lookng at it for a couple months i had to..look bad from a far..the tone changed just a little after i did this to...
I didn't cut mine just in case. Might decide I don't like the tip down the road, something might happen to it, whatever, not sure, I just left it for now. I might cut it later.
I fit mine up to make sure it looked how I wanted to, then cut it. I think it looks kinda cheap when you can see the exhaust pipe inside the tip, likes like a cheap add-on. I see it all the time on cars and other vehicles, just doesn't look as nice as when it's just the tip.
I wouldn't think that just the tip would be enough to change the tone, but mine is so noisy I wouldn't be able to notice anyway.
I didn't cut mine. I pulled the tip out far enough to where the normal person wouldn't see the pipe inside. Also it's so black inside there, you have to look hard to notice it anyway.
All I see is the MRBP stainless 5" tip. I gotta get on my hands and knees to even see the tailpipe. I left it sticking out just enough to avoid getting any soot on the paint. Did I cut it? I dunno. But I do know that coming loose has never been an issue.
