One of my customers told me that he heard something about a recall on the fuel tank and/or mounting straps that hold it in place. Something about their inability to hold the fuel tank in place during a collision.
Just do what I did- punch a big hole in your tank, spill about 15 gals of diesel, and then get yourself a 55 gal steel replacement for less than the dealer charges. You bolt it to the frame with about 8 or 10 1/4" bolts...
It's a ruse. The dealership gets your truck into the back and siphons off half of your fuel. This is shared with all of the dealership employees in lieu of a bonus.
There is a recall on the fuel tanks . My 99 they installed steel cables to frame and bed
and also installed a big steel angle bracket to truck frame.
My truck was done back in 99 when new.
Dont know if this is what you are talking about?
My 08 job 1 has this recall. They have a plate to put in front of the fuel tank. I assume it is to prevent forward movement of the tank in a crash. They did not have the plate in stock. Had to order it.
