While pulling the heads off my truck I decided to remove the injectors to have them cleaned and flow tested tomorrow. While removing them I noticed that there was one injector that looked a bit different. It seemed to have white "crystals" that formed on it. I snapped a picture, maybe you can tell me what I'm seeing here?
This cylinder also happened to be running a bit lean as well.
The piston and wall look fine, it is free of carbon unlike the rest of the pistons and it's got a brown "hue" to the metal. Other than that it looks fine, I don't see any scratches on the wall or anything like that.
Little, look down the page a few for his post on a cylinder head problem. He's got a leak of some sort, and has the engine apart to fix it. The injector doesn't look like it will work so well, to me. Mebbe you could spring 30 bucks for a new one, or check your local boneyard. If you get another, make sure it has the same part number as they are different in the amount of fuel they will flow for a given 'on' time.
