Got a question for you experts. Ive got a 77 f100 with power brakes. I had a leak where the back fitting/line screwed into the cylinder. Basicly the fitting will screw in untill its tight but the brake line will slide in and out probably an 1/8". So I figured maybe its a problem with the cylinder. So I went to the local autoparts store and got a new one. Hooked up the lines and had the same result on the rear. Does anyone know if theres a particular cylinder I need, or is there some type of fitting or adapter I need?
Best I can tell its not. I think Im going to buy a double flairing tool off the tool truck tomorrow and redo it. I suppose I cant mess it up any worse than it is.
The line that goes into the master cylinder-- The screw threads, are they only about 1/4" long and then bottom out leaving the line loose?
Reason I ask is that most replacement lines have two sets of threads on the ends. One is normally much longer then the other side. If the flare is deep set into the master cylinder, and you are trying to use the short ended fitting on the line? It can bottom out so the 'nut' section of the fitting is against the master cylinder--however the line is still loose.
