I have a small one that actually fits in the cubby hole in the instrument cluster bezel.

I was going to velcro it in there and use a cigarette lighter plug on the end of it because I don't want to drill any holes or hard wire anything in the truck.

I also have a small antenna that clips to the rain gutter so you don't have to permanently mount one either. I just found another antenna in the yard the other day that uses double back tape to adhere it to the windshield.

I don't really need a CB and will probably let the whole setup go for cheap if you are interested.

I'll try and post some pics later today.

No need to hard wire any accessories on these trucks anyway.

There is an Accessory feed connection, on the radio wire, Yellow/black hash wire on 1982-1986 trucks. The connector is yellow in color, and can hold up to three wires for accessories, using aftermarket connectors.

Hope this helps.

I have a Cobra CB, (I forgot the model) in my truck. I have it installed under the little cubby hole on the bottom of the dash. I ran the co-ax cable from a roof mounted antenna, down the back of the cab so I could still lock my rear window, under the cab along the frame rail, up through the firewall and under the dash.

There's nothing in the world that drives me crazier then a sloppy wiring job on a vehicle so I have to wire tie any wires out of the way nice and neat to satisfy me. The way I have mine set up, if I want to disconnect it so nobody can steal it, I just have to unplug 2 wires, take off the co-ax and it's outta there!

I was planning on updating my gallery this weekend for a few SNOW shots so I'll snap a pic or two of my CB set-up.

I have one of the small Cobra CBs that you can get for $40.00 at Wal-Mart installed underneath the cubby hole but, where your leg doesnt hit it when your driving. I got the antenna from Radio Shack for 30.00 that has a 16' cord. I ran the cable underneath the carpet, then took off the cover on the side of the cab that is on the left of the brake pedal and ran it under the carpet there, then i pulled up the aluminum piece that holds the carpet down right by the door, ran it under that, put that back on and ran it up the door trim behind/beside the seat, then once at the top of that I ran it through the door jam, beside the rain gutter thing, and then to where ever you want to set it on the cab. That worked really well and you barely notice the cable running on top of the cab.
Sorry if that is confusing but thats the best I can explain it,
hope this helps,
Blake

I've got a small Uniden under the dash below the cubby hole. I installed a second 6 circuit fuse panel under the dash and ran a lot my extras, including the CB through that. My antenna wire runs through the chanel in the rocker panel and out of the cab through a plastic plug in the bottom of the cab near the rear cab corner, then under the truck to a rear bumper mounted whip antenna.

Those antennas are crap. Dont waste you money on them. I had them on a older truck of mine and it took three of them to get the same powerband as a regular single dorsal antenna.

You lose a lot of power through the glass, One of those was on my truck when I got it, it was the first thing to come off. I plan on putting my new Midland in this weekend, with the 'Lil Will I just picked up. I'll try to remember to take pics. I plan on going in through the cargo light housing, I dont mind notching it as it is already in rough shape. I plan on using a grommet and clear silicon to seal off the entry.

I ran the coax under the truck and up through the firewall at the smae grommet that the EFI/feed back harness goes through on the TFI trucks. Don't know if the DSII trucks have the hole there or not.

Only thing I need to figure out now is where to mount the dang radio. It's a full size cobra so i think about the only place it can wind up is on top of the dash board right in the middle.

What I'd REALLY like to get is a factory am/fm/cb/8 track player, but I've only seen one ever.

Justin
