I recently purchased a grill for my 98 Navigator. Issue is I need to reuse my emblem from the stock grill but can't get it out. I tried prying from the corners and even bending the grill to give me more space to work with. I called the local dealer and was told that the emblem is not sold separatley, only option is to buy a whole grill from them, but that leaves me in the same position
Has anyone ever removed the emblem successfully; If so can you please help me out.
I suspect there is one bolt and double sided tape holdin it in place. You need to be very careful when removing. I have had luck with 3M's release agent. It softens the glue. Spray from the back side into the bolt hole, if possible.
you might want to check with Lincoln Motorsports (http://www.lincolnmotorsport.com/)for emblem options. They might be able to make one using the Cobrastar (Cobra and Lincoln emblem intertwined). I have their fender emblems on my 98 Mark and love em.
Thanks for the input Frat Man. I took the grill off and there is no bolt holding the emblem in. It is possibly double sidded tape but I havent been able to get anything in to pry the emblem (without chipping the side). I might just drill a small hole into the back of the grill (behind the emblem)and try the release agent. Is it called "3M Release agent"? would goo gone or goof off work the same way?

Goof off might be too strong.
It might be Trim or Weatherstrip Release Agent. I got it at a body shop supply house for under $20. Just tell the clerk you need to remove a double sided tape emblem and they will know what you need. You might be able to use a hair dryer and heat it, but run the risk of damage to the plastic.
Also once you drill out the back, you might be able to gently 'push' the emblem out from the back.
Here' one up for bid for an 03-06 Navigator. Scroll down the page and look at the picture of the backside. It looks like there's some kind of hooks or tabs the insert into the grille.
Don't know, but in that auction the guy says it's part number 2L7Z8213AA. Maybe with that number in hand you can get some information out of the dealer.
Thanks guys, So I drilled a small hole and couldn't see any type of tape or glue so I made a larger window using my Dremel, then just pushed it out. FYI...The emblem is held on by two globs of silicone, (one on top and one on bottom ) which is why I couldn't see anythign with the hole I drilled in the middle. I'm sure soaking it with something that will soften the silicone woudl allow you to push it out as well. I'm not sure what checmical you would need to use to do this to Silicone but I'm sure something is out there. Hopefully this helps someone else in the future.
