Flew into Charlotte, first stop Kings Mountain.

Tomorrow we're driving the southern portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway from Asheville to Cherokee, NC.

Next: Chattanooga, TN and the Chicamauga Battlefield, other historical sights, antique stores.

Sgt. York's home and museum, more historical sights.

I hope to get back to see the Civil War battlefields some time before I cash in. Sounds like you are going to have a ball. Glad you have your laptop and can check in from time to time.

I'm using the laptop that belongs to "She, who must be obeyed."

That quote refers to Stonewall Jackson, I think.

You are right - "There stands Jackson like a stone wall" I got the quotes crossed - up.

After Rosecrans had given orders for a retreat at Chickamauga, Thomas refused, and held his position. That is what prompted James Garfield to tell Rosecrans " he is standing like a rock".

I too would like to be able to visit some of the battlefields of the Civil war before I make my journey to Heaven. Would be cool to see.

i went to gettysburg and yorktown and some other battle fields when i was in high school, they were pretty sweet, there was a cannon there from the civil war that had been hit by another cannon ball and had a big ol dent in it it was cool. and i saw trees with cannon ***** in them and a barn with like a bunch bullets in a big beam that was really old. It was really cool. A lot of the berms and trenches and everything that were dug are still there too

Hey guys! Just finished griiling some cheeseburgers for the Family, per Mom's request. Grilled some venison chops for myself. Had some chocolate chip muffins for dessert.

Momma is happy! Guess I did a better job than last year...

G'night all. See ya on the boards tomorrow.
