Call wise we have been pretty quite except for a few EMS runs.
Just about two weeks ago there was a fatal car / bicycle accident involving a drunk driver hitting a 17 yr. old and left the scene that our neighboring department got the call for. Come to find out it was about a half mile from my house and in our district. I had no problem letting them handle that call as I have seen my share as I assume you have over the years.
Neil I have had that happen near my house a few times. We have even had one guy wrap his car around a metal telephone pole. He died at the hospital a few hours later.
Long and somewhat boring. It was grey overcast here most of the day and I did not really feel like being at work today so that did not help the issue. Finished up a few little projects tonight and am winding down surfing here.
How is your morning going??
Neil it is my afternoon here now. So far so good. Just looking forward to the end of the school year in about 2 and a half weeks.
Doug I would rather have wire down calls all day then having a fatal. The last one the we had was back in December when I was still chief. A guy struck a tree in a hedgerow at about 55 mph and I would say that he was gone on impact.
The conditions could not have been any worse.... about 2 feet of snow on the ground and he was about 1/3 of a mile off the road. We had to wait for some members to get there with their personal snowmobiles to help ferry personnel and equipment to the scene.
