Ford, by far.

 

Suspension and chassis is one area where Ford are by far the benchmark...

 

Ford, why do you think that they can continue to tow and haul more,even with less power.

 

'93 Ranger swears its because of the Blue Oval on the grille. Haha, but yeah Ford has the best chassis in the business, like the guy above me said, thats why their ratings are so much higher.

 

I'd probably say ford, but I do think they are going to a bit crazy with this boxed frame stuff. Although other manufacturerse are now following suit. The new 09' dodge will have a paritally boxed frame

 

My 2001 S'Crew has a partially boxed frame. Nothing new there.

I don't completly buy into all the boxed frame hype. You need strength but I think a good thick C-channel is still extremely good. Ever look at a Semi, they run heavy C channel frames, the way the torque twists the truck a boxed frame would be bad. If its good enough for a big semi I'd say its good enough for my SD.

I also like my solid front and rear axles with leaf springs all around. IRS, IFS and coil springs arn't for me.

I think Ford currently has the best suspension in a HD 4X4, no question. But, I think the GM HD frame is stiffer. It kills ground clearance though.

 

It's Ford, Hands down.

No one has been building chassis like Ford, for as many years.

I'll agree, the boxed frame is a bit of over kill.

 

I would imagine words like "Duramax/Allison" and "Cummins" might be mentioned


There is more to a truck than just a chassis remember

 

OK,the best engine is Cummins,right?So,then best truck is Ford?Man,I like so Cummins,don't know what to do,Ford- best chassis,frame,front/rear axle,but not so engine,especially 6.0.Not ignore Dodge style,but like Ford.....???

 

Buy an F-350 or whatever you want with a 5.4L, and then get a cummins swapped into it.

Boxed frames also trap water.
Many HMMWV frames were replaced due to this, and from what I've seen on a rusty "northern truck" Tacoma I don't care for them. What manufacturers care about are expense (steel weight is expensive) getting the shape they want, ride, and crash management.

Hydroformed frames are "strong enough", but these boxed abortions are also tough to repair (properly).
