Carburetor

I have an 81 F100 4.9L with the 1 bbl carb. The previous owner has disconnected the automatic choke. It apparently had some sort of line fitting on it. Anyone have a diagram or pic to let me know what and where this reconnects?? Also, can I switch to an electric choke? If so does it have a constant 12volt power to it, or is it switched from the ignition? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Wes

The fitting went to a line that hooks to the exhaust manifold. If you put your finger over this fitting when the engine is running, you should feel a slight suction. This draws warm air from the exhaust manifold up into the choke housing to help it warm up and pull off the choke.

You might be able to go to Napa or somewhere like that and find an electric conversion kit for your carb. It would hook to a key-on power source.

Thanks for Carb help

Franklin, thanks for the help. I had no idea where the line hooked to. I've looked all over and seen nothing. It seems that all of the carbs I've seen for sale are the ones with the electric choke. Thats what I will do. Thanks again.
