Question About 2005 Navigator

Used the search button and couldn't find anything out. I have heard conflicting reports but do the 2005/2006 Navi's actually need Premium fuel or is it just recommended? I talked to one guy ran it fine on 87oct. Just wondering. Thanks in advance.

Runs fine on 87 Octane. Might have a slight hit in milage. Does perform better with 89 or higher though. I think it runs smoother on 89+. I use at least 89 or higher on my 05 navi.

Tried 87 on mine - it runs fine - no pinging. Slight power loss though. Runs much better with the recommended 91 though and mileage is up. I calculated it about half makes up the difference in cost with the better mileage - so I use only 91 now.
