Guys I am new here and come with a serious concern. I dont know if this has been discussed here already or not, I havent gone through all the old posts. Anyway, I was told today that several Ford trucks have been "broken" into in my town, 3 at one particular restaurant, and nothing was actually broken. What I mean is that the local police said that supposedly there is a "master" code for the keypad on the doors of ford trucks that has leaked out and that it works on all Ford F250's. I dont know if this is just a certain year model or what. But I was curious to know if anyone here has heard of such. I cant find anything on google that speaks of it. The officers also said that there is some way that crooks can "taze" or "stun" the truck by putting a stun gun to it and zapping it, which makes the system unlock all the doors.
Is this just some freaking urban legend type crap or has someone else heard this stuff?
My initial reaction to the police officers suggestion is laughter. I've broken into dozens of cars, vans, and trucks for friends, neighbors and family that locked their keys in the car...with no damage. Stiff piece of steel wire through the door seal and a good push on the electric lock (unlock) and you're in. Paid $60 to learn it from a tow truck driver after I locked the keys in my Jeep a few years back. He was into my Jeep in under a minute. I'm not that quick, but then I also don't have the kit he had with him - plastic wedges to pry the door open a bit and some rigid, pre-bent metal rods for hitting the power lock button. Felt like a fool writing him a check for $60 for 60 seconds worth of work.
There is no "master code" for the keyless entry system (for the exact reason you describe) - and there is no need for one. The code is printed on a sticker inside the car (not sure where it is on the SD F-250, but it is under the dash on the drivers side in my wifes Expedition) in case you forget it - ot it can be reset by the dealer manually through the programming port.
