Battery Box CAI

This is for those of you that have an aftermarket or homemade intake and would like to have the filter in a heat shield box. mrhite65's 2001 Ford F-Series Pickup on CarDomain - Page 4

That's pretty slick! Looks almost factory.

The logic of having a "cold air intake" that draws in hot under hood air has always escaped me.

Now, other than the increased snorkel diameter, what's the advantage of this system over the OEM one with a K&N replacement filter?

There is no advantage to me. I bought my truck used and it came with the K&N system. I wanted something that came close to the OEM that was cheep and looked good. If I had the OEM intake I would have done the Gotts Intake Mod instead with a K&N filter.

I think They didn't like it when I put up another Ford site for a different Mod. It used the OEM intake with a K&N filter, but got rid of the silencer and something else. This made the OEM intake flow better. I was saying that I would have done this if I had the OEM intake. I don't have one, because I bought my truck used and it already had the K&N system on it. I wanted to make a closed box system like the OEM intake, but on the cheep. It didn't hurt that it looks decent too.

Well anyway, You did a super job on the box. Looks impressive if nothing else.

Yep, if you mention certain words, sites, etc. it automatically "bleeps" you out until a moderator sees it's not spam.

I didn't say that I preferred the OEM. I just said that if I had it in the first place I wouldn't be messing with this.
The hood of the truck seals the top of the box.
