I was recently trying to adjust the timing on my old 460. It is advanced about 12 degrees and I was wanting to back it off some. It was then that I realized that my distributer won't turn whatsoever. My buddy tried turning it so hard that he broke the cap off. Luckily I had another one. What would cause it to seize up and not turn like this.
Also, it starts backfiring really bad at about 3500rpms. I know that 4000 is probably about the max for a stockish 460 but I didn't know if the distributer would be the cause of this.
No the hold-down bolt came right off. Ya I might have to steal some PB from work. I soaked it in WD40, but I just did it once. I'll keep it up and see what happens.
I already tried the propane torch approach. It didn't help me too much. Maybe I'll just leave the timing advanced for now. And just keep spraying it with penetrant for the next couple of days and hope.
