Outside mirrors

HI: New here:
Having trouble with my outside mirrors.
A 2000 Ford 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive with power mirrors.
Both work up & down but not side to side.
My son & I tried to take the glass part out but could not figure out how to do it with out breaking the glass .
We checked out the switch & it seams OK.
Help Please.

Probably just need a new switch. Mine use to do it when ever it got wet. I cleaned it out the first 2 times then replaced it the third time it did it. No problems after that.

i got mine from a salvage yard.

Spray it with electrical contact cleaner and lube it with WD40 or similar. Work the switch repeatedly in all directions and blow it out real good. I got one at the salvage yard that worked in 3 of the 4 directions. Did the above and it works like new now.
