Hello. New to the site.
I just bought a 97 4.0L Ranger. It wont stay running. it will start but then die unless you give it alittle gas.
Anyway....
The prior owner said he had a compression check down and the mech that done it said he had a blown head gasket or a warped head because of the low compresson readings.
Anyone know if .. there anyway this will cause the stall/idle problem i mentioned?
I guess that makes sense. I already started tearing down the engine. 1st time I ever done it. Kinda fun.
I seen some orange stuff in the head below the intake manifold rear port.
anyone know what this mean or is. Here is pic of it.
Also. Its looks like I have to remove the studs coming out of the head into the exhause manifold. Is there a special tool for that. The Hayes manuel just say remove the bolts and pull it off. Nothing about studs being removed.
