Ok so let me here some ideas of finding which pulley is squeeling on start up.....99 f150 v6 it has started squeeling only on start up and sometimes at idle if the air or heat is on only
check your belts to make sure they arent the squeeling, and then id say open the hood and listen to where the sound is coming for when someone else is starting it...
i tried the listening under the hood thing and i hve it narrowed down to the right side of the engine...1 of 3 pulleys (well at least i assume it is a pulley)
Aren't all '97-'03 F150's equipped with ONE serpentine belt?

When I 1st got my '98 & was dealing w/squealing everyone under the sun told me to put on a new belt & many here have claimed the notched Goodyear belts are the only ones to use. Everybody seemed to hate belt dressing & cursed ever using WD/LW.
The best tip I learned was to use a spray of water to diagnose. A recycled bathroom cleaner pump spray works great. The idea is to spray the belt itself to isolate belt noise itself from accessory noises. On mine a quick spray to the grooved side silenced the belt momentarily, spray to out side did nothing. This ruled out alternator bearings, fan & AC clutch.
I learned the hard way, serpentine belts can become noisy by even minor misalignment among the pulleys. Mine turned out to be the harmonic balancer. The noise progressed to a shreek every time the motor revved.
