starter semi-engaging?

I just had to replace the starter on the 300 in my 79 f-150. After purchasing a remanufactured duralast starter from auto zone I tossed it in and now when i turn it over all i hear is grinding and the motor doesn't turn over at all... am i looking at a bad starter that could possibly only be engaging half way? or is it more likely to be something a little more time consuming like the flywheel? any help would be appriciated thanks

It could be a bad starter...I've had that happen. But before you change it out again check the cables for corrosion back up under the insulation near the connectors...not an uncommon problem. You might have to cut the cables back to good wire or replace them.
