462 Lincoln
Not sure where to ask this question but does any one know if the 462 from the MEL family (383, 430, and 462) has the same bellhousing as a regurlar 460?
I have a buddy who just bought a 66 continental for some reason and needs a tranny.

the MEL used the same pattern as the FE engine (353, 390, 428 etc), from 61-65 but with relocated starter location, and for 66-68 a dual pattern for the Continental only C6 and the FE pattern as for the 61-65 with relocated starter. don't know what is required to adapt an FE tranny to the MEL witht he starter.
the early 460's put into the 68 Lincoln's, were suppose to have the dual pattern on them for the MEL transmission and the 385 series pattern since you could still get the 462 or 460 in the early 68 Lincolns. after 68, just the standard 385 series patten and C6.
if he has a Continental, i think he is stuck with getting a C6 fromt he same car as they redesigned the C6 to clear the heater box in those cars, so other C6's wont fit.

Yeah that 66 linc has a total ******* bellhousing.....And not just the early 460s had the dual bellhousing, I have a couple later 70's 460s and two I know for sure have both bellhousing patterns.
