i put royal purple in this afternoon and i cannot even see it on the dip stick! when i wipe it off with a paper towel i can tell its there but its hard to see, is this normal?
I use a full synthetic as well and it's a bit hard to see. That's why they have the holes on the stick. The oil will "fill" the holes if you look closely enough.
i just did my oil engine withthe motorcraft 820s and it took 7.5qts to fill up. the manual says 7 yes but when i put 7 the level was only in the middle of the hash mark. to make me feel safe, having it at the top is more soothing.
What do you mean that syns help the chatter of these engines?
Synthetic oil. Some folks on here have reported that the synthetic oils rather than conventional or blends help to quieten the ticking, clicking, rough idling, chatting, chitty chitty bang bang of these engines.
I personally started to use Syn when my '01 5.4L Expedition started to experience some lifter chatter at about 60 or 70K.
How many miles between changes have most of you been going? I checked my oil at 3k and is still looked great, not dark at all. I do highway driving mostly.
